Daria, still feeling the residue of her panic, watched as the submersible hatch opened and out clambered Izzy and Lucinda. Lucinda was near hysterics, her eyes wild, breathing erratically as crew members tried to calm her down. Even Izzy looked uncharacteristically rattled. Her clothes clung to her, drenched in sweat, her complexion pale.

Daria hesitated, her gaze darting between the visibly shaken Izzy and the distraught Lucinda. Her journalistic instincts warred with empathy. She took a deep breath, her voice tentative. "Izzy? Do... do you want to talk about what happened down there?"

Izzy slowly met Daria's gaze. Lucinda was near the breaking point, eyes wide, face drained of color, but Izzy still held a semblance of composure. "It's alright," Izzy murmured. "It's important everyone knows."

Taking a moment to collect herself, Izzy ran a hand through her drenched hair. "I know how it's going to sound. Hell, a day ago, I'd have called anyone crazy for saying it... but there's something down there. Something big."

Catching her breath, Lucinda interjected, "It was massive, Daria. Like nothing I've ever seen. It was... prehistoric."

Izzy nodded, her scientist's brain trying to process and rationalize the encounter. "From what we observed, it closely resembles a megalodon. I know the idea is absurd. Sharks at such depths? It defies everything we know about marine biology."

Daria's heart pounded. Thoughts of her sister rushed back at full force. "But... how? I mean, sharks can't survive down there, can they?"

"That's the mystery," Izzy began. "Given the pressure, the cold, the absence of light... it should be impossible. But it was there. Clear as day, right in front of us."

A crew member chimed in, "And the comms? The video going dark? How do you explain that?"

Lucinda was still too distressed to delve into technicalities, but Izzy, determined to understand, speculated, "I believe it emits some sort of electromagnetic field. Every time it approached us, our systems went haywire. It might be why it's been so elusive and why there's scarcely any footage of it."

Daria swallowed hard. If Izzy was correct, they had encountered not just a living relic but an anomaly of nature with capabilities beyond their understanding.

Suddenly, the idea of exposing the creature felt almost sacrilegious. How long had it been down there, hidden away? And if they ran this story, if they told the world…what then? She glanced at Calvin, who had resumed filming discreetly. The story they were tasked to uncover seemed both a blessing and a curse.

A sudden burst of energy exploded from the doorway. Arun entered like a cyclone. "I've heard everything," he said hurriedly, "and I think I can modify the ROV to resist electromagnetic interferences. I can have it ready by morning, and we can send it down to get footage of the creature."

The group fell silent, absorbing Arun's words. They were caught in the pull of discovery, unable to escape the event horizon of the unknown.

Daria felt the weight of it all, a swirling tempest of fear, curiosity, and the undeniable human impulse to push into the unknown.
